Academy staff participated in calls with United Healthcare (UHC) on March 1 and March 5 to discuss the company’s ongoing response to the breach. At this time the outage still persists, however UHC is making available payments (loans) to certain providers whose payments are being impacted. You must login to www.optum.com/temporaryfunding to check eligibility and begin the process. An Optum account is necessary to access this portal.
United Healthcare has two webpages being continuously updated, one for the technical information on which platforms and programs are impacted (Optum Solutions Status (changehealthcare.com) and the second with information on the outage more generally (Information on the Change Healthcare Cyber Response – UnitedHealth Group)
The AAO-HNS advocacy team is also working with Congressional champions and HHS to ensure support of our members/physician providers during the outage in the form of a letter. Today, HHS has posted guidance on flexibilities that are currently in place. We are also aware of agency efforts under development to support impacted providers with cash flow problems and will provide updates on these when they become available.
